First, I want to start by saying thank you to all of you for the amazing ideas you post every day! And I want to apologize for not being around as of late. With simply being a substitute, the ideas aren’t exactly flowing out! I promise to get back in the swing of things soon. Tuesday, December 18, Holiday Picture Books With recent events, I have decided that I wanted to continue spending time with my kiddos–away from texts, and just having fun. I want them to be able to come to school, learn, and enjoy it while they are there. I love the holidays getting away from basals and text books and just kinda “letting loose. With only a few short days before break, I know I am late in coming up with this idea. If nothing else, it will be there to refer back to for next year.

This is a teaching blog about my adventures in first grade Pages Sunday, September 23, Fall Freebie! Hope you’re having a fabulous fall weekend! We are studying the seasonal changes this week and this is one of my favorite activities to do with my kiddos. There sheets are grouped by type and start off easier.

Cut various colors of tissue paper into squares or triangles. I had my daughter cut over a bowl to contain the tissue paper. Use a silver or gold crayon to color in the top of the Christmas lights. If you have kids who dislike sticky textures, using popsicle sticks instead of fingers is a good option. Before the glue dries, sprinkle loose white Elmers glitter over the tissue paper to give the Christmas light a little shine and texture.

Make sure to have long low containers or open file folders underneath the projects to catch the glitter as the kids are working. Fold over or cut off the access tissue paper and let the light bulb craft dry. Punch two holes in the top of the template and string ribbon through it.
